Offseason Report: Al Healing Up
by
Amy Azzi
Almost two months into the off-season, Big Al Jefferson is continuing to regain strength after his ACL surgery.
The Timberwolves need their leading scorer and rebounder healthy for next season, and as teammate Ryan Gomes noted recently, No. 25 is working hard to get back in the game.
“He’s doing good. He’s way ahead of schedule. He’s training hard and he’s on the court a little bit. We need him back, of course. He’s our All-Star, he’s the motor that goes, so hopefully next year we’ll have a good year.”
Big Al, who finished up the season with an average of 23.1 points and 11 rebounds, is the heart of Minnesota's team and prior to his injury, was virtually unstoppable.
PRAISE FROM FLYNN
In an interview with the Star-Tribune, Minnesota rookie Jonny Flynn spoke about the importance of having Big Al and Kevin Love:
"We've got two beasts down low in Kevin Love and Al Jefferson. To be a successful team, you have to start down low. I think we already have that and we can build on that."
